About the Role

We seek an experienced and detail-oriented CAD Designer or Design Engineer to join our innovative Engineering team. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in creating and refining technical drawings and 3D models for our advanced thin film deposition systems. You’ll collaborate closely with mechanical, electronics, and process engineers to ensure our designs are both accurate and optimised for high-precision manufacturing.

 

You will also work with our supply chain team to manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) in our ERP system, ensuring all components and assemblies are accurately documented and aligned with production schedules. Additionally, you may assist in coordinating with suppliers to make sure that all components meet our technical and quality standards.

Skills You Need to Bring

  • • Technical Training:  Industrial CAD Designer (Konstrukteur EFZ / Dessinateur-constructeur industriel CFC) or similar qualifications.
  • • Industry Experience: 1-3 years in a similar role, preferably in machinery or industrial design..
  • • CAD Proficiency: Strong skills in CAD software, preferably Inventor
  • • Mechanical Design Knowledge: Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • • Team Collaboration: Willingness and ability to work closely and respectfully with other team members, including cross-functional collaboration with different departments.
  • • Openness to Learning: A willingness to broaden your knowledge base and skill set, as well as to take and apply constructive feedback.
  • • Initiative: A proactive attitude to take on responsibilities and challenges, seek out learning opportunities, and strive to improve processes or technologies in the organisation.
  • • Language Proficiency: Advanced written and spoken English, our working language. Knowledge of German or French is a plus.

Nice to Haves

    • • Machine building: Experience with machine building principles and best practices is a big plus
  • • Parametric design experience: Experience with CAD automation and extensive parameterization of parts and assemblies
  • • Vacuum Technology: Familiarity with vacuum technology or thin-film deposition processes
  • • Metal manufacturing knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the various possibilities offered by the usual metal manufacturing methods and which to apply to get specific results

 Prototyping: Enthusiasm for fast prototyping and proficiency in 3D printing.

What You Will Achieve

First 3 Months: Learn the Ropes
  • • Product Familiarisation: Dive into our product designs, collaborating with engineers to understand the functionality and requirements of our machinery.
  • • CAD Introduction: Get hands-on with our CAD software, learning our specific design standards and protocols.
  • • ERP Skills: Get to know our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)  system for managing parts, bill of materials and how it interacts with our CAD tools.

• Team Integration: Become a valued member of our team, understanding our workflows, communication styles, and project management systems.

First 6 Months: Take Charge
  • • Project Ownership: Begin leading your own design projects, producing detailed CAD drawings and ensuring accuracy in design specifications.
  • • Design Optimisation: Work on improving existing designs, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, fidelity and ease-of-maintenance.
  • • Documentation: Generate easy-to-follow assembly instructions and production prints
  • • Custom Parts Sourcing: Find suppliers and ensure they receive accurate technical specs and verify the parts meet our exact standards.
First Year: Master your Craft
  • • Key Contributor: Become an essential part of the design and engineering process, recognized for your expertise in CAD.
  • • Process Innovation: Lead initiatives to streamline the design-to-manufacturing process, improving accuracy and reducing lead times.
  • • Streamline Product Design: Contribute to the development of our products to simplify and streamline their manufacturing process.
